The Pilates at Nolte Story

CHAPTER 1: GYM PILATES VS. STUDIO PILATES

We’re a fit community in the Iowa Corridor with plenty of workout options. But when Leslie Nolte moved to the area in 2000, she began to miss her weekly Pilates appointment in her hometown of Chicago. She tried classes at gyms, but found the atmosphere crowded and chaotic. The instructors were constantly changing, and weren’t that expert — not ideal for getting great results!

CHAPTER 2: WHY NOT US?

Leslie’s dance training included Pilates, and she is a huge believe in its benefits. Soon after purchasing reformers in 2001, not only were the studio’s dancers becoming fans of Pilates, but we began adding clients from around town — often transplants from bigger cities who missed their hometown Pilates studios! We now have fellow Pilates enthusiast Ann Menner on our team to teach our growing group of clients.

"The five minutes I spend walking out of here after my class is the most amazing 5 minutes of my week."

WHAT IS PILATES?

More than just a way to exercise, Pilates is a holistic approach to fitness designed by founder Joseph Pilates. Using visualization techniques, and focused poses, Pilates strengthens your core "powerhouse," sculpts and tones your body for long lean muscles, improves balance and creates greater body awareness.

WHO CAN DO PILATES?

Pilates is appropriate for adults of any age in all stages of fitness. Our clients range from elite athletes and busy professionals, to active retirees and new moms returning to fitness. We individually tailor your workout to your goals and abilities. Always let us know if you have special health concerns.

CHAPTER 3: A UNIQUE SPACE FOR PILATES DEVOTEES

When a new Nolte Academy was completed in 2012, we created the Pilates studio of our dreams as part of the building. The resulting space is a serene, sun-filled studio with sparkling mirrors, soft music, and the finest Pilates machines and accessories available. Clients say they feel like they’re in a spa. Not only is the classroom relaxing, an hour of Pilates makes the mind and the body feel amazing. That feeling is what motivates us and our clients through every workout.
